The sad part is that it seems those posting here have missed that the definition of fascism, as it was presented at the beginning of this thread, can be applied to both Republicans and Democrats...I personally don't see a great deal of difference between the two anymore...perhaps they seek to destroy different freedoms, but they both wish to unreasonably control the population and both sides sell out to the wealthiest contributors.

We're all being played with a "good cop, bad cop" scenario.

felt it was time to revisit this again.

am reading "the shock doctrine" and naomi klein posits that the state is being replaced by privatizing.

the freidmanites are accomplishing what the communists could not; the "whithering away" of the state.

in the case of the friedmanites they have deliberately starved it.

yet something must fill that void and that something is fascism under the kinder, gentler name of "the private sector". the private sector where allegience is not to the concept of nation but to the concept of shareholder. where the concept of democracy is morphed into the one dollar, one vote oligarchy. where disaster capitalism takes the place of infrastructure maintenance, community, and "e pluribus unum".

capitalism unleashed has done what the cold war could not. it has done what the old cold warriors could only dream of. it has created a nation wherein corporations are citizens and the people mean nothing. it has resulted in a perfect storm of infantilism, greed, idolatry and hedonism.

where the hell are tom paine, andrew jackson, abraham lincoln, the grange movement, mother jones and fdr when we need them?

what do we have to choose from?

one candidate beholden to the f.i.r.e. sector and one beholden to the corporatist state.

great.

Hey guys, here's your chance to stop the drug problem. Cross the border with all that heat and start looking for the cartels. C'mon, if a bunch of [derogatory reference to people of color] can sneak across in the backs of vans, you can sure as hell go the other way. Do it!
