There is a free version of a music program called Finale NotePad 2005 that will allow you to key in the notes and play them as a piano midi.

This software was developed so that musicians could send each other text based code via list-serves and print out the music on the other end.
The code above looks like this:
Parse this through any ABC software, then you can transpose, change the meter or export the midi to any instrument or arrangement it any way you please.
The internet is a wonderful thing!!! Irish musicians use this extensively! The computer can be a cyber-pub session to exchange tunes world-wide with others afflicted with the musical bent.
Here's a resource for both Irish music and ABC things. I use a Mac, so Barfly is what I use.
